When the Digital World was created, it was in a state of chaos. The only way to get a higher status was to fight, and even when you reached the top, you had to fight to stay there. Eventually, Digivolution was born from this warring culture. But to get to the Mega Ultimate level was difficult, and few ever reached that stage. The four who rose to power as Megas looked down upon their world and were filled with pity and remorse, for the Digital World would soon crumble under the constant state of war between all Digimon. They were called the Harmonious Ones, and sometimes, the Four Holy Beasts. Azulongmon, the Guardian of the Eastern Quadrant, Zhuqiaomon, Guardian of the Southern Quadrant, Baihumon, Guardian of the Western Quadrant, and Ebunwumon, Guardian of the Nothern Quadrant. In order to help bring Peace to their precious world, they entrusted the Eight Keys of the Digital World to a group of mega level Digimon they used their Digi-Cores to create. The Keys of Courage and Friendship were given to Zaexmon, created by Ebunwumon. The Keys of Light and Sincerity were given to Zenaxmon, created by Baihumon. The Keys of Knowledge and Reliability were given to Zereithmon, created by Zhuqiaomon. And lastly, the most important Keys, Hope and Love, were given to Runemon, who was created by Azulongmon. Together, the four sought to bring the chaotic Digi World to peace, as the Harmonious Ones beleived it should have been. The new Megas, called the Exalted, were revered, respected, and loved by all Digimon. They came to be known as folk heroes, being able to cease almost any conflict, rarely having to resort to enforcement to resolve it.

But... something went terribally wrong. On a peaceful day, while the Exalted were resting on File Island, a virus found its way from the internet and hacked into the Digiworld, attacking the Exalted, and altering the programming in which they were created from. Their temperment quickly changed... they became violent and cold, leaving File Island, and going on a rampage and destroying everything, from buildings to innocent Digimon. The Harmonius Ones sought to stop them, but with fewer Digicores they were no match. Fleeing back to File Island, they came up with a plan. They used more of their Digi-cores, and confronting each of their respective Exalted, turned each of them into a pair of Digi Eggs, one containing their original Fractal Code, the other containing the Virus and it's re-written Fractal Code. Azulongmon took the 'Light' Digi Eggs into his care, and the other three taking a 'Shadow' egg into his care. They entrusted the last one with Weregarurumon and Leomon, two of Azulongmon's trusted friends.

What became of the Keys to the Digital World? They were scattered across it when the Harmonious Ones turned the Exalted into Digi Eggs.

Inside the Digi Eggs, the Lights of the Exalted are calling for help from another world... unconsiously knowing that the Hatching of their Shadows will unbalance the Digi World. If the Virus isn't eventually destroyed, the Digital World will cease to exist.

Ryudamon had disappeared during the fight, muttering about how the thing was to weak for him. Unfortunately or fortunately, he ran into his partner. They stared at each other for a bit that half the battle was already done. That's when Ryudamon started to glare.

"I thought I made it clear to stay away from me," he growled with dislike in his tone.

Akki's heart clenched in hurt but her face didn't show it. Her face remained neutral. Her eyes stared at him as if waiting for him to take it back.

"Feh, how annoying," he said in a menacing tone.

Akki felt even sadder inside. Suddenly, she dropped to her knees and bowed before Ryudamon. She was doing it in a way of forgiveness for whatever she had done to make him angry. Her head touched the ground while her arms laid beside her head.

This had caused Ryudamon to be thrown off guard. He stared at her, shocked at what she did. Then he walked to her side and kicked dirt on her.

"Pathetic," he said in a cruel, cold tone.

Ryudamon then turned and went his way. Yet again, leaving Akki behind to suffer his cruel words. As he had went Akki had stayed bowed to the ground. All the energy in her had went away to where she didn't want to get up. She didn't want to move, not yet; not until she got her feelings under control or at least be able to hide them away.

Her hands clenched into fists as she suddenly shook. Something wet went trailed down her cheeks, it startled her. Taking one of her hands, while still in a bowed position, she touched her cheek. She removed her hand fast as if she were burnt. When all it was.....all it was tears. Why was she crying over someone she barely knew?

Because they were supposed to be partners and yet her partner was disgusted with her

Akki stayed bowed, ignoring everything around her...just this once, she'll ignore everything around her....just this once......

Guilmon's ears drooped slightly, and he looked sadly to Akki, as she kneeled on the ground. He got down on his knees as well, and nosed Akii's chest in an affectionate manner, much like a dog would. "Don't cry, little human," he murmured.

Meanwhile, Reika was back at camp with Comet, inside the medic tent. Comet was laying on some soft bedding, her wings wrapped around her like a blanket. Reika was sitting cross-legged beside her, watching her partner sleep, and Renamon was leaning against the side of the tent near the entrance, watching what went on outside, like a lone sentinal. It was nearly dusk, and the sky was painted orange and gold. Some of the Digimon in the camp had set up controlled fires, while others had already retired to their respective tents. A few digimon were making rounds around the camp, and a Blackgargomon could be seen for a moment, but his dark fur made him almost impossible to detect, being a well trained sniper.(Even with machine guns. xD)

((Okay, just to clear up any confusion, Blackgargomon is a vaccine type. AKA, he's one of the good guys. xD It confused me at first, cause he had black in his name, so I assumed he was a virus type. xD))

Sigath threw a snarl at Ryudamon, a very good impersonation of Dimidiatamon who snarled with him, ears back and tail flicking. "Well, good thing I'm not that mean, seems we have a bigger jackass on the camp ground!" Sigath muttered bitingly, watching Akki with intent eyes. He didn't go closer, leave it to Guilmon to help with open simpathy. Well, Dimidiata decided to join that.

The cat unfolded his wings and drapped them over the girl. "Yes, come child, he will get better, I hope he will be better. He cannot get stronger without you," he said gently, rumbling with a light purr, his yellow eyes gentle.

Reika looked sadly at the ground, absorbed in a strange depression, one that she could not pinpoint the source of. Why am I feeling so lifeless? And powerless? She asked herself, a hand tightening into a fist as she thought this.

Reika nearly jumped when Renamon spoke up. "Tell me... why do you fight?" The question surprised her. "I... I don't know..." she stuttered. Renamon turned her head to face her, brow cocked.

"If you don't know, then you wouldn't be here, Reika," she said simply, her words flowing with grace and wisdom. "Look deeper into yourself," the fox digimon prompted.

"Its... its almost like an... instinct. An instinct to... survive... and... to protect others..."

"Hnnh... He was right..." Renamon whispered, barely audible. "Reika, no matter what you may think at the moment, it was no accident that you met Cometmon. The two of you were destined to be partners."

"Such a bond is your greatest strength, and also your greatest weakness. Comet fell in battle because you were weakened by despair. A truly crippling emotion, but even more so for you two. You feel weak because she feels weak, and vice versa. Find your strength, Reika, and you will find your purposed again," Renamon had said it as though it were the simpilest thing in the world. As though it were nothing. But truth had finally dawned, and Reika felt as thougha heavy burdon had been lifted from her.

Must she get up? Akki didn't feel like getting up. But she had to, didn't she? Akki slowly, but surely, started to rise shakily to her feet. She rubbed her eyes to rid herself of the rest of her tears. Her face was slightly red from crying, while she tried to act like she was fine and that nothing had happened. Akki brushed off the dirt that Ryudamon had kicked at her side with a plain looking expression.

Ryudamon, however, was already quite a bit away from them. His hothead still flaming but, he sort of calmed down a little. That's when he felt this strange weird feeling which caused him to groan, the feeling was guiltiness. Ryudamon didn't want to believe he needed anyone to help him at all. Not even that human he left behind in tears. Glaring ahead of himself while he was having an internal struggle, Ryudamon didn't know what to do.

((Is there anyone is particular you want to meet Ryudamon, Dark?))

Guilmon looked on sadly as Akki got up, brushing herself off. He'd never seen someone looked so... empty. Devoid, broken, sad, all without having a single expression on the face. He continued to nuzzle her softly. Please smile... He begged in his simple, but golden heart.

((I can't do much until Sigath posts...))

Sigath watched Akki intently. That was a terrible thing for anything/one to do. Dimidiatamon helped with the brushing off, wings flicked dirt of clothing. "Now, come on, we must check on Cometmon," he incouraged, and Sigath stepped foreward by his digimon's side.

"Oi! Guilmon, stop sloppering all over her, give ehr some space," the black haired boy called, looking at said digimon.

Guilmon almost jumped back, and his eyes were wide. He looked almost guilty, as though he really believed he had done something wrong. He whined softly, but he continued walking beside Akii, as though he had decided that he'd be her partner instead, even though he knew that wasn't possible.

When they returned to camp, it was dark, except for the pale light the moon cast over the camp. Within the medic tent, Reika had fallen asleep, and Renamon had placed her next to Comet, placing a blanket on top of them both. The fox Digimon was now standing outside the tent, silently observing the returning group, blue eyes emphasized in the glow of the moonlight.

Dimidiatamon watched Rena, trying to read in the digimons eyes the state of Cometmon and Reika. He swished his tail. "How are they doing?" the question was asked, but not from the cat digimon, but from a slightly shifty eyes Sigath, looking anywhere but at the tent.

"With rest and time, they both will recover," Renamon stated, though there was not much expression on her face. She faced Sigath directly. "There is no need to hide your conern for them, boy," she smiled at him.

"In the mean time, all of you should rest. Those tents over there has been set aside for you," She pointed to a pair of empty tents, both large enough to hold them all comfortably. One had been intended for Reika and the other for Sigath.

Guilmon looked over at Akki worriedly. The girl seemed... broken, and she had not said a word. He was snapped back to reality when Renamon had shoved something into his paws. Looking down, he noticed it was the jar of peanut butter. Renamon was smiling at him now. He grinned back, and his ears waggled happily.

((I might not get much chance to be on Monday. I have a Rehearsal after school for a musical.))

[center]Sigath nodded firmly to Renamon and strolled off to his tent, grabbing Akki's arm lightly and pulling her gently behind him to her tent. Dimidiatamon watch with amusement, so the kid DID have feeling. he turned back to Renamon. "You sure theya re okay? They seemed a bit worn to me," he said, settling down my the other digimon's side.[/cente]r

Guilmon walked off after Akki, peanut butter clutched firmly in his claws. Renamon look down at Dimidiatamon, who had taken a place beside her.

"They'll be better in the morning," She said firmly.

"That human suprised me though..." She admitted, referring to Reika. "She's been here four years, constantly fighting for her life, and yet, her heart is still soft," Renamon continued.

"Humans have strange ways of thinking, but she's different from most humans. Instead of running away, as I thought she would, she stayed by this one Digimon's side," Her expression softened. She was already somewhat fond of the human.

Akki kept silent throughout the whole thing. Her eyes stayed blank and her head felt fuzzy. In fact, she felt hollow inside. Was it okay to feel this? She only met Ryudamon a bit ago...so why should she care what he thought? Is it because she didn't want him to be like her brother? She didn't know and was only confusing herself more. She felt Sigath pull her arm gently, she followed though not really taking note of her surroundings. Sadness started to wrap around her like a coil, along with dread. What if Ryudamon never came back or...always hated her?

Akki just felt her heart start to break. Like bits and pieces falling off and clattering to the ground. She knew she was weird, she knew she was strange....but was she that bad?

Ryudamon kept storming away from the place where he left Akki. Who cares about her anyway? As he kept going, his speed started to slow down. He started to see flashes of Akki looking sad and when she went down on her knees to bow to him as if she did something wrong.

Argh, stupid human. Why am I even thinking about her?

Suddenly, Ryudamon completely stopped. His thoughts kept going back to Akki no matter what he tried.

Don't tell me....that I feel... Ryudamon shuddered as he continued I feel....guilty....

His eyes narrowed. Why did he feel guilty? He could care less right? RIGHT? Kicking the air in front of him, Ryudamon turned a bit. She was his partner after all. Maybe he should just....

No I will not go back, I will not go back,I will not go back,I will not go back,I will not go back,I will not go back,I will not go back.....I will go back

Gritting his teeth, Ryudamon turned around and started to head towards the direction where he knew Akki would be. Would she hate him now? Ryudamon shook his head. Why should he care if she liked him or not?

Stupid guilty feeling

If only he could take the guiltiness and chuck it at some poor person passing by. Out of anger at giving into the guiltiness, Ryudamon stomped his feet like a child who didn't get his play toy. Once again Ryudamon stopped and had frozen in spot at just realizing something.

I-I don't have to apologize do I? OH GREAT

"I WON'T APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE," Ryudamon shouted in a furious tone," NOT EVEN GUILT CAN MAKE ME APOLOGIZE."

Taking in deep breaths from shouting at the thought of apologizing, Ryudamon realized he was near the camp. Well, now they'd know he was here. That's for one thing.

Akki stopped suddenly as she heard a voice shouting. Why did it sound familiar? Was it Ryudamon? No it couldn't be....it could. Without thinking, Akki yanked her arm and ran into the direction of the voice that shouted. Moving as fast as she could, Akki left the camp and went little ways from it. Her feet stopped running as she saw Ryudamon standing in front of her. She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it. Suddenly, unsure of herself.

Ryudamon watched Akki and was having a battle inside. He wanted to shout at her but then there was a thing called a conscious. Oh...how he hated his stupid conscious.

Glaring at Akki and sizing up he growled out," I'll work with you but I'm not saying sorry."

Akki almost flinched when Ryudamon growled but then, her heart started pounding with happiness. She was happy that Ryudamon wanted to be with her. She was fine with him not saying sorry...even though she was a bit upset at him being mean to her but she didn't mind since he was going to be with her. Akki nodded her head and smiled while Ryudamon looked away as if embarrassed.

Guilmon cocked his head when he heard a voice shouting, and Renamon looked up in the sound's direction, but soon dismissed it. She knew who it was, and so did Guilmon. But the red lizard Digimon couldn't brush it off as quickly as Renamon, because Akki suddenly tore herself away from him and Sigath, running towards Ryudamon. His yellow eyes reflected sadness, sadness for Akki.

Renamon looked over to Guilmon with a knowing look in her eyes, which made him turn away slightly.

The Next Morning

The sun peeked over the horizon, quickly shedding light over the camp area. The sky was clear and beautiful, and there was one figure standing alone on top of a tree watching it. Renamon. In truth, she had taken the dawn sentry duty, but the fox-like Digimon did enjoy watching the sunrise. She scanned the ground, watching for signs of movement, movement that could belie an approaching enemy. But there were none this dawn. The world seemed to sigh as the sun broke the horizon, to sigh with relief and wonder at a new day. But Renamon knew that this day was likely the last of its kind. With the Shadows unbalancing the world, soon beauty and peace would be a distant memory.

Two figures emerged from a tent. One human, the other, Digimon. Reika smiled at Cometmon, who, while still injured, was now past the critical status, and able to move freely. The two gazed at each other with renewed partnership and friendship. Blue eyes met gold, and the world seemed perfect.
